The Importance of a Proper Diet and Exercise for a Child’s Well-being

Good health begins with a healthy diet. Many health issues originate from the eating habits we develop as children. With our lives being more complex and hectic than ever before, many parents are time-strapped which results in them feeding their children fast foods and or processed foods, in place of whole foods.

We Americans have been chowing down on fast and processed foods for so long, that some people may even think that “Whole Foods” is something new, not realizing that before the advent of processed foods everyone ate whole foods. Eating lots of high-calorie, high-sugar and processed food depletes our children’s ability to function properly in school and in other social environments. Almost all microwaveable foods are processed and are loaded with things that are not nutritional. Years and years of this type of diet will erode your child’s ability to operate on their highest level mentally and physically.

A high-calorie, high sugar diet in conjunction with little or no physical activity, further compounds the health issues that will result. With kids spending less and less time outdoors doing physical activity, due to their addiction to video games and social media, it is even more important that they eat right and get sufficient exercise.

Find ways to make eating whole foods simple and fun. Find ways to keep your children physically active throughout the day, every day. It’s a tough world out there, your child needs every advantage they can get. And remember the wise saying: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
